The shooting deaths of two U.S. military advisers in the Afghan capital and the quick decision to pull coalition personnel from all government ministries injected a sobering measure of doubt about the reliability of the most important U.S. ally in the war.
The Pentagon condemned what it called the murder of the two American officers but said it was committed to working closely with the Afghans to counter violent extremism and to stabilize the country.
President Obama telephoned the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, Gen. John Allen, with condolences. And the White House praised President Hamid Karzai's efforts to restore calm in his country.
In a written statement, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's press secretary said Afghan Defense Minister Gen. Abdul Rahim Wardak called Panetta on Saturday to offer his condolences and to apologize.
"Secretary Panetta appreciated the call and urged the Afghan government to take decisive action to protect coalition forces and curtail the violence in Afghanistan after a challenging week in the country," spokesman George Little said.
He said Wardak told Panetta that Karzai was assembling religious leaders, parliamentarians, Supreme Court justices and other senior officials "to take urgent steps" to stop the violence.
White House press secretary Jay Carney said the administration welcomes Karzai's statements "encouraging peaceful expressions, and his call for dialog."
Even if Saturday's killer turns out not to be an Afghan, the deaths compound a perception of insecurity in the heart of Kabul after a series of recent security failures and Afghan outrage over U.S. burning of Muslim holy books.
The Taliban claimed responsibility and said the attack, was in retaliation for what U.S. officials have said was the inadvertent burning of Afghan religious materials, including Korans, at Bagram air base north of Kabul.
Allen, who commands both U.S. and coalition forces in Afghanistan, said the killer's actions "will not go unanswered." Citing security reasons, he recalled all coalition personnel from Afghan ministries.
NATO forces have advisers embedded in many Afghan ministries, both as trainers and to help manage the transition to Afghan control as foreign forces prepare to withdraw by the end of 2014. The Afghan Interior Ministry oversees all the country's police, so has numerous NATO advisers.
A White House statement said Obama thanked Allen for his steps to protect U.S. troops and to encourage calm. It also said the United States "remains committed to a partnership with the government and people of Afghanistan."
Still, the killings are likely to provide new momentum for critics of Obama's war policy, as well as Republicans who fault him for having apologized for the Koran burning.
Obama's apology Thursday, shortly after Allen expressed deep regret, was seized on by the president's Republican rivals as a sign of American weakness. Presidential primary candidate Newt Gingrich said it was the Afghans who should be apologizing, given their shocking perfidy.
These tensions coincide with planned administration meetings in Washington in the week ahead with the Afghan ministers of defense and the interior. It was unclear Saturday whether the session, including one on Thursday with Panetta at the Pentagon, would go on as scheduled.
Those talks are seen as important in the lead-up to a NATO summit meeting in May in Chicago, when the alliance and Karzai intend to determine the path to turning over full security responsibility to the Afghan government by the end of 2014.
Central to the U.S.-led international coalition's strategy for countering the Taliban insurgency is the idea of building up Afghan security capacity by working closely with the Afghan army and police. That requires a measure of trust, which is undermined when Afghans turn their guns on their foreign partners.
Just this past week the U.S. Army announced it was creating specially tailored brigades -- some now getting training in the U.S. -- to perform training and advising missions in Afghanistan starting this summer. It will assign 18-person teams to Afghan combat units in hopes of improving their ability to handle the Taliban insurgency on their own by 2014.
Even before the Koran burning and the unrest it unleashed across Afghanistan, U.S. and allied troops had been killed in increasing numbers by their Afghan partners. Last month France suspended its military training program after an Afghan soldier shot and killed four French soldiers.
After the French deaths, Allen issued a statement lamenting "this very serious issue of individuals targeting our forces." He pledged then, and again after Saturday's killings, to continue to work closely with the Afghan government.
Just this past Thursday two American soldiers were shot to death by a member of the Afghan army at a base in eastern Afghanistan amid protests over the Koran burning.

The president and the White House haven't been shy about claiming credit for doing everything possible to keep gasoline prices low.
As White House spokesman Jay Carney said this week "Oil and gas production in the United States has risen every year since the president's been in office. Oil production is now higher than it's been in eight years."
Industry analysts say production is rising -- not because of President Obama, but in spite of him.
"Today on federal land, the area where the president has control, production in the Gulf of Mexico is down 30 percent. Lease sales in Rocky Mountains on federal lands are down 70 percent," Jack Gerard, head of the American Petroleum Institute said.
He says the president has put 85 percent of the outer continental shelf off limits and overall, is only making 3 percent of the areas under his control available for development.
Numbers from think tanks and the federal Energy Information Administration confirm those numbers.
Nevertheless, steadily rising gas prices are a political liability. That's why the president now takes credit for the results of policies he ran against in 2008. One ad lambasted McCain by tying him to the Bush energy policies, saying "McCain and Bush support a drilling plan that won't produce a drop of oil for seven years."
The president initially wanted to drive up oil prices to make renewable energy more attractive.
His cap and trade plan was too harsh even for Democratic allies and failed. Nevertheless, Obama still seems to deny that drilling would reduce prices.
"You know there are no quick fixes to this problem, and you know we can't just drill our way to lower gas prices," he said at a speech in Florida this week.
Exploration and development do take years. But analysts argue the administration can't now take credit for decisions about drilling made years ago by President Bush and his predecessors.
"That production is a direct result of leases issued before this administration and as result of development on private and state lands," Gerard said.
On private lands, oil production is booming. In North Dakota, the oil and gas are on private or state land and beyond the president's control.
The state has gone from producing a small amount of oil to some 450,000 barrels a day.
Unemployment is 3.3 percent, the lowest in the country. And the state has a budget surplus in the billions.
Gerard thinks North Dakota isn't the only place. He says if the President would unleash the energy industry, the US and Canada have so much oil and gas that, along with renewables, we could become energy independent.
"We could be energy self sufficient right here in North America in 12 years, but that takes political courage," he said.
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner and others are now talking about releasing oil from the strategic petroleum reserve.
Gerard says it at least shows the administration recognizes that supply affects prices. But he argues we have a bigger reserve right under our feet-- if we'd only develop it.

The food stamp program, part of the Department of Agriculture, is pleased to be distributing the greatest amount of food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the Park Service, also part of the Department of Agriculture, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals" because the animals may grow dependent and not learn to take care of themselves.

Obama and Holder's Border Spillover Violence is a National Reality

From: Michael Cutler

I was contacted by Fox News Latino for my perspectives on the wounding of a woman this past Tuesday, February 21st who was pushing a stroller in downtown El Paso, Texas when she was struck by a bullet that had apparently been fired in Mexico during a gunfight.  My Op-Ed on that incident is attached below.

Here is a link to the Fox News account of the incident:

That report began with the following excerpt:

El Paso, Texas –  Cross-border violence has taken on a whole new meaning.
On Tuesday, a woman who was shopping in El Paso, Texas became the first person to be struck by bullets that flew across the border from Ciudad Juarez, Mexico.
The woman, who is 48 and was pushing a stroller on a busy downtown EL Paso street when the bullets flew over, was hit in the calf and wounded, authorities said.
Her name has not been released.
Gregg Allen, El Paso's chief of police, said the wound was caused by a "full metal jacket hard-nosed bullet" like those used in assault rifles. She was struck at the same time Juarez police were battling alleged carjackers a few hundred feet from the U.S. border. Allen said reports indicate up to 50 shots were fired in that gunfight.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was treated and released.

What is astonishing is how the Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano is unable or, perhaps, unwilling to deal with just how serious the situation is- not only in Mexico but in the United States as well.  The first step in problem-solving is to acknowledge that there is a problem in the first place!
On November 10, 2011 I wrote a commentary for CAPS (Californians for Population Stabilization) that was entitled, “Victims of Illegal Immigration.”  Here is a link to my article:

The point is that a number of the millions of illegal aliens who enter our country each year are criminals who ply their “trades” in our nation- often killing or injuring people living in the United States- both citizens and aliens alike!

While Ms Napolitano downplays the violence spilling across our borders, she conveniently ignores how a United States Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry was gunned down by smugglers who were wielding a gun that was put in the hands of the Mexican drug cartels under the aegis of the ATF screw-up known as "Operation Fast and Furious!”

She also seems to have forgotten about rancher Rob Krenz who was shot in the back by apparent smugglers who trespassed on Mr. Krenz’s property!

The late radio talk show host, Terry Anderson- a man I was proud to consider a friend, often said, “If you ain’t mad, you ain’t paying attention!"

Show me a politician who refuses to enforce the immigration laws or attempts to trivialize these laws, and I will show you a politician who needs to find out what it is like to stand on the unemployment line!

Benjamin Franklin, in discussing our then fledgeling nation, said that they had given us a republic if we could keep it!
What he was making clear was that this democratic republic required that its citizens take their citizenship seriously and keep the political leaders accountable.

It is time for the citizens of our nation to make certain that our nation's leaders, on all levels, to come to terms with the fundamental fact that the purpose of our immigration laws is to protect our nation and our citizens from aliens whose presence has the potential to have a serious adverse impact.  Ignoring those laws exposes our nation and our citizens to a variety of serious threats and challenges ranging from national security and criminal justice and public safety to the economy, the environment, healthcare and education!

A country without secure borders can no more stand than can a house without walls!

I f  our country is to survive and if our children and their children are to get their share of the "American Dream" the citizens of this nation must take their citizenship seriously!

We the People must be the best citizens we can be, citizens who are worthy of the gallantry demonstrated by our valiant men and women in the military, law enforcement and firefighters, who routinely go in harm's way in defense of this nation and our citizens.

My goal in writing this and other commentaries is to point out our nations many failings before more victims pay the ultimate price for the incompetence and ineptitude of our government.

The first step in problem-solving is to first identify the problems and vulnerabilities and then devise strategies to overcome them.

If you find yourself to be in agreement with this commentary, I ask that you forward it to as many of your friends and family members as possible and encourage them to do the same.  We need to create a "Bucket Brigade of Truth!"

The practice of good citizenship does not end in the voting booth, it only begins there.
For far too long our citizens demonstrated apathy which emboldened elected representatives to all but ignore the needs of the average American citizen in a quest for massive campaign funds and the promises of votes to be ostensibly delivered by special interest groups.
It is therefore understandable that the politicians of both parties, are greatly concerned about the demonstrations currently sweeping our nation just as did the creation of the Tea Party.  Clearly  more and more of our fellow Americans are demonstrating that they are not as dumb as the politicians from both parties had expected us to be!
I am encouraged that more and more of us, We the People, are not willing to simply sit on the sidelines anymore!

I believe our nation's is greatly benefited by the rich diversity of our people which is why I could never imagine living anywhere except New York City, arguably the most diverse city in our nation if not, in fact, the world.  However, my idea of diversity most certainly does not include members of MS-13, the Mexican drug cartels or members of other transnational gangs or members of al-Qaeda!

I also believe that the original purpose of our nation’s immigration laws need to be be brought “front and center” to make certain that our nation does not permit the entry of aliens into our country whose presence in our country is problematic for the citizens of our nation and that if such aliens do succeed in entering our country that our nation have the resources, integrity and dedication to do everything possible to make it impossible for such aliens to function within our country so that even if they are not apprehended, they will find it pointless to remain in the United States.

As I have noted on a number of occasions, “No one would break into the amusement park if they could not get to go on the rides and no one remains in the amusement park at the end of the day when they turn shut down the rides and turn off the lights!”

If our government's failures to secure our nation's borders and effectively enforce our immigration laws concerns you or especially if it angers you, I ask you to call your Senators and Congressional "Representative. This is not only your right- it is your obligation!
All I ask is that you make it clear to our politicians that we are not as dumb as they hope we are!
We live in a perilous world and in a perilous era. The survival of our nation and the lives of our citizens hang in the balance.
This is neither a Conservative issue, nor is it a Liberal issue- simply stated, this is most certainly an AMERICAN issue!
You are either part of the solution or you are a part of the problem!
Democracy is not a spectator sport!
Lead, follow or get out of the way!

A federal court’s recent ruling that the District of Columbia’s anti-defamation statute does not apply in federal cases could help move forward a federal lawsuit brought by WND against Esquire magazine for its false report that the WND Books expose “Where’s the Birth Certificate? The Case That Barack Obama Is Not Eligible To Be President” had been recalled and repudiated by the publisher.
The WND case is being held up because Esquire has filed a motion to dismiss based on D.C.’s anti-SLAPP law, which is designed to protect media and public figures from frivolous lawsuits.

But the U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C. ruled Feb. 2 in a case brought by the multinational corporation 3M against former Bill Clinton adviser Lanny Davis that D.C.’s anti-SLAPP law does not apply in federal cases.
WND’s attorney, Larry Klayman, said he has notified Judge Rosemary Collier of the ruling in the Davis-3M case and urged her to apply it to WND’s case and deny Esquire’s special motion to dismiss.
Denial of the Esquire motion would allow the case to proceed to discovery.
Defendants along with Esquire Magazine Inc., are its parent company, the Hearst Corporation, and Mark Warren, the author of the false report.
Klayman explained that D.C.’s anti-SLAPP law makes advancing cases like WND’s difficult, because it essentially requires the plaintiff to prove his case even before discovery.
“This will now allow discovery, and we will be able to look into the internal workings of Esquire and Mark Warren and their campaign to harm the plaintiffs,” Klayman told WND.
“Their only defense with regard to defamation is that this was parody,” Klayman said. “Well, that’s not an issue for a judge to decide, that’s an issue for a jury to decide. So she should summarily deny that motion to dismiss.”
In the Davis case, 3M alleges the former Clinton adviser engaged in a “defamatory media blitz” against 3M after a business dispute between the company and the manufacturer of a medical product.
WND’s suit seeks $250 million in damages for the report, which included completely fabricated “statements” from Farah.
The controversy began the morning of May 18 when Warren, Esquire’s executive editor who supervises political coverage for the magazine, published what appeared to be a news story quoting Farah as saying he was destroying hundreds of thousands of copies of Corsi’s explosive new book challenging Barack Obamas eligibility for office and issuing refunds.
Immediately, news organizations throughout the U.S. began contacting Farah for confirmation of the story and comment. In addition, buyers of the book began requesting refunds and its supporters began attacking Farah.

Faked report by Esquire
When the suit was filed June 29, Farah, founder and CEO of WND, also a plaintiff along with WND Books and Corsi, said, “We are reacting to one of the most egregious abuses of freedom of the press that I have ever witnessed in my 30-plus year career in journalism.”
The legal action was being taken, Farah added, “not because we desire to restrict First Amendment-guaranteed protections, but because we want to police them and guard them.”
The Esquire article stated that Farah announced plans to “recall and pulp the entire 200,000 first printing of the book, as well as announcing an offer to refund the purchase price to anyone who has already bought either a hard copy or electronic download of the book.”
Esquire issued a disclaimer, insisting it had “committed satire,” only after Farah issued a statement saying that he was “exploring legal options” against Esquire and Warren.
The complaint charges that Esquire’s disclaimer was as false, misleading and legally actionable as the initial story.
The suit points out that Warren later told The Daily Caller he had “no regrets” about posting the item, and that Corsi was an “execrable piece of sh–.”

A grandfather who fled Mussolini taught him to prize freedom.

Rick Santorum doesn't fit any of the stereotypes of current foreign-policy ideologies. He's too idealistic to be a "realist," too conservative and too religious to be a "neocon," and too revolutionary to be a "paleocon." He's an old-fashioned, feisty patriot, in the mold of Harry Truman and Ronald Reagan.
Mr. Santorum's hatred of tyranny traces back to his grandfather Pietro, who took the family from Lake Garda in northern Italy to Pennsylvania's coal country to escape Mussolini's dictatorship in the 1920s. Pietro Santorum worked in the mines until he was 72 and, as Mr. Santorum often says, taught him "to treasure the gift of freedom [and] to have faith in God's grace."
Mr. Santorum believes the United States must lead the struggle for freedom throughout the world, on grounds of morality and national security, which he believes go hand in hand. He does not like the drift away from leadership and engagement in that struggle, especially under President Obama. He often quotes Lech Walesa's recent lament: "The United States was always the last resort and hope for all other nations," Poland's first post-communist president said. "There was the hope, whenever something was going wrong, one could count on the United States. Today, we have lost that hope."

Associated Press
Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum
Mr. Santorum wants to restore the hope that America will rescue those for whom things have gone terribly wrong. In Congress, he supported aid programs to help Africans suffering from AIDS and other terrible diseases (laying the foundation for his friendship with U2 singer Bono). He also has sponsored legislation to support democratic opponents of the Syrian and Iranian tyrannies—because their leaders, the Assad dynasty in Syria and Iran's Ali Khamenei and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, threaten American and Israeli security, and because he wants to support moderate Muslims living under such regimes.
After leaving the Senate in 2007, Mr. Santorum wrote about foreign policy frequently for the Ethics and Public Policy Center, where he was a fellow until June of 2011. In essays written for the center, he acknowledges that terrorists are indeed inspired by radical Islam—but he wants to work with Muslims who do not wage jihad, subjugate women or oppress minorities. He's specific about the radicals: They are evil men who have perverted the meaning of "martyrdom," changing it from the act of dying for one's faith to killing others to advance the dominion of one's faith.
His opposition to tyranny abroad has been a constant in his political career. Even in the final days of his losing 2006 re-election campaign, Mr. Santorum never stopped calling for action against Iran and Syria. Apparently, Pennsylvanians weren't impressed by his Iran Freedom and Support Act, enacted in 2006, which imposed sanctions on the regime and authorized $100 million annually for the democratic opposition, or his 2003 Syria Accountability Act.
But today he looks prescient and gutsy. Back then, the Bush administration was trying to run away from such ideas. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice at one point turned to a Democrat, then-Sen. Joe Biden, to block Mr. Santorum's Iran bill, before it finally passed. But Mr. Santorum's basic vision has prevailed.
He foresaw that we would eventually have to confront the Iranian and Syrian regimes, and he was one of the first to point out the intercontinental anti-American alliance involving Iran, Syria, Russia, China, Venezuela, Bolivia, Cuba, Honduras and Nicaragua. He calls this a "gathering storm," as members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps enter our hemisphere through the Venezuelan capital of Caracas, accompanied by military equipment and components.
He is right to be concerned. Former supporters of the Hugo Chávez regime in Venezuela, worried at the direction of events in their country, have told American officials that there are Iranian missiles in Venezuela capable of hitting the U.S. More obvious are the Shiite mosques suddenly popping up in Venezuela and its near neighborhood.
If we keep leading from "behind," as the president puts it, the lowest common denominator of Western resolve will define our policy. That's disastrous for people in other countries who are standing up to tyranny, and it emboldens America's enemies like Iran or the Taliban. Mr. Santorum believes things would be different if we were committed to defeating those enemies, and he is convinced that the region and the world would be far safer if there were regime change in Damascus and Tehran.
That's why he has long called for support for the Iranian opposition and favors arming and training the Free Syrian Army to bring down the Assad regime. He advocates zeroing in on the foreign scientists—from Russia, for instance—who work on the mullahs' nuclear-bomb program and declaring them enemy combatants.
Mr. Santorum hopes that American financial and moral support for the Iranian opposition will catalyze the simmering democratic revolution there, which in turn would likely tilt the balance of power in Syria once the regime in Tehran was no longer there to support Damascus. If that strategy fails, he said in Florida in January, he would go with the military option against Iran's nuclear weapons project, in close cooperation with Israel.
Unlike President Obama, Mr. Santorum believes that an explicit linkage of American and Israeli military and intelligence assets would greatly increase chances of success. And since we'd be blamed for any unilateral Israeli strike, he sees no point in separating from the Israelis on this most crucial issue.
Beyond the Middle East, Mr. Santorum believes that we should fully develop our missile-defense system—reversing Mr. Obama's abrupt cancellation or limitation of the systems destined for our Czech and Polish NATO allies. He supports the development of measures to protect our satellites and other facilities against electromagnetic-pulse weapons. He has written that if elected, he would reverse many of the Obama defense cuts.
Above all, the world would know that a President Santorum would be determined to revive the hope that Poland's Lech Walesa declares lost—the hope that America would be the last line of defense for freedom and virtue. Just as Grandpa Pietro taught.

Iran has called Israel a “one bomb state,” meaning one nuclear bomb could effectively end the existence of the tiny, New Jersey-sized nation. Israel has a population of 7.8 million people. Some 42 percent of the population live in the Tel Aviv metro area. Over at io9, there was a story about a website called Nukemap, which, using Google Maps, allows you to see what would happen if different-sized nuclear weapons exploded over a particular city. This is what would happen if a 45 kiloton nuke, roughly the size of the kind of weapon Pakistan has, exploded in Tel Aviv :

Like I say - LET'S ROLL!!!!!!!!!! - NOW! Speak UP. Start demanding his entire C.V. - every single document from birth right up to the present day. The American people MUST BE TOLD WHO THIS MARAUDER REALLY IS..and who are his foreign and domestic enablers and financiers!

I have no doubt whatsoever that public knowledge of the following has to occasionally make Obama nervous and apprehensive, smoking butts like a chimney.  Perhaps that’s why he’s rumored to be kept sedated.  Xanax, anyone? Prove me wrong.
Obama spends million of tax payer dollars to defend himself against all comers in at least two dozen lawsuits demanding to see his records.  So far, no court in America will hear the case on its merits. Prove me wrong.
Like pimps, his handlers keep their money-maker Obama under their control, toe-ing the line with tried and true drugs of choice: ego, power, perks, male lovers, and crack cocaine. Prove me wrong.
The “community organizer” and his “wife” have never had it so good.  Vacay, anyone? Taxpayer-underwritten campaign trips? Millions of dollars for Madame Michelle’s entourage of make up artists and courtesans?  Private schools for their spawn?
What ever it takes to keep their boy and his beard sweet.
The stick.  His handlers know ALL his dirty little secrets.  After all, they’re the ones who picked and groomed him for the job.  Obama must live every day of his life in a prison of apprehension, knowing they can and will blow his cover and bury him if they want to.  Knowing that as long as he does what his Blackberry tells him, he’s home free for another day.  And just as added insurance, his putative wife Michelle is paid in perks to hover close by, making sure he doesn’t screw up the deal. You could say agent Michelle’s earning her “compensation” as Obama’s “bodyguard”, his "minder".  Prove me wrong.
So with assurances from his handlers, their handmaidens in the media, and members of Congress (including your representatives and mine) that they will keep his secrets, close their eyes, ignore his Constitutional ineligibility, have his back, and protect him from scrutiny or accountability, Barack Hussein Obama, son of a Kenyan Muslim, has nothing to worry about. After all, since the 2008 campaign, he’s been untouched, and untouchable, hasn’t he?
Not only do Obama’s handlers control the propaganda, they’ll sic the U.S. Federal agencies, including the IRS, DoJ, DHS, HHS, and the entire judicial system on anyone or any group that threatens their puppet agent in the White House.  Their army of jackbooted union and New Black Panther thugs will utterly destroy you if they perceive you to be a threat to their mission. Welcome to 1938.
The Marxist machine has made sure the 2012 election will tilt in his favor. They’ve dredged up the dead to secure and stuff the ballot boxes, assuring themselves another four years with Teleprompter Boy at the helm to polish off what they’ve been working at for decades — the systematic dismantling and utter destruction of our Republic, delivering us into their vision of a socialist utopia. Mordor. Prove me wrong.
Meanwhile, cluck, cluck, cluck…
They’re counting on us chickens, the dumb-clucks, to keep pecking at our corn, i.e. the misinformation the propaganda media feeds us. Keepin’ em dumb on the farm, as it were.  They will use any and all weapons in their arsenal to destroy those of us who are cognizant — the tea party movement, for example. Their accomplices in Congress will enable them to destroy the means by which “we the people” keep each other informed, connected, and educated — the Internet. Prove me wrong.
Is it hopeless for us? Is there any recourse for us? Those with clarity of vision say there is, but we must act fast.  This Patriot says the country is like an airplane on course for a spectacular crash and the time for Americans to act is NOW while we can still control the unavoidable, painful, crushing impact that’s coming:
A federal tax strike. Stop paying federal taxes.  Stop feeding the beast.
Look to Poland’s Solidarity movement. Work stoppage. Strike. Paralyze the system.
Get our troops out of the Middle East. Then, in an act of charity for freedom lovers worldwide, turn their cities into glass, one by one, until they understand that Islam/Sharia will not gain a foothold here or anywhere else.
