Fake Interpreter Once Faced Murder Charges

South African report says he has lengthy arrest record

By John Johnson,
(Newser) – The news about that Nelson Mandela interpreter who wasn't actually interpreting anything just keeps getting worse. Not only has Thamsanqa Jantjie acknowledged suffering from hallucinations and schizophrenia, but a new report from South Africa's eNCA says Jantile—who was standing about a foot away from President Obama and other world leaders—has been charged with murder, attempted murder and kidnapping, rape, housebreaking, theft, and malicious damage to property over the years. The broadcaster says it's unclear how the 2003 murder charge was resolved, or whether he has ever spent time in jail, but the extensive arrest record raises more questions about the vetting process for such a high-profile role in the service. (Click to read about the "gibberish" that Jantjie was actually signing.)

Colorado Baker Jack Phillips Threatened with Jail for Not Baking Cakes for Same-sex Weddings

A few days ago, I wrote an article about Colorado baker, Jack Phillips, being court ordered by Judge Robert N. Spencer to bake cakes for same-sex marriage, in violation of his own religious beliefs. According to, Phillips now faces up to 12 months in jail if he refuses to bake cakes, in the future, for same-sex marriages. Phillips, who owns Masterpiece Cakeshop in Lakewood, Colorado, refused service to same-sex couple, Charlie Craig and David Mullins, on the grounds that it is his Christian belief that marriage is between one man and one woman. Even Colorado law recognizes marriage as between one man and one woman but does recognize the “civil union” of same-sex couples. Many who read the article wanted to know the judge’s stance in order to rule on the case.
Ken Klukowski reports for
Phillips is an Evangelical Christian who holds to the belief that marriage is between a man and woman. When Phillips bakes a wedding cake, he interprets it as participating in the wedding celebration, and he explained that, therefore, he does not make cakes for gay marriages.

Craig and Mullins complained to the Colorado Civil Rights Commission. On Dec. 6, 2013, an administrative law judge—Robert Spencer—ruled that Masterpiece Cakeshop and Jack Phillips violated Colorado’s antidiscrimination law. Spencer ordered Phillips to bake cakes celebrating gay marriage for any other parties that ask for such a cake in the future.

Spencer readily acknowledged the authenticity of Phillips’s faith, including in his findings of fact:

Phillips has been a Christian for approximately 35 years, and believes in Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior. As a Christian, Phillips’ main goal in life is to be obedient to Jesus and His teachings in all aspects of his life[;] Phillips believes the Bible is the inspired word of God[;]     its commands are binding on him[;] God’s intention for marriage is the union of one man and one woman.

Relevant to his professional work, Spencer included as a factual finding, “Phillips believes that if he uses his artistic talents to participate in same-sex weddings by creating a wedding cake, he will be displeasing God and acting contrary to the teachings of the Bible.”

Phillips’s lead lawyer is Nicolle Martin, who is representing him pro bono as part of the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), a network of over 2,000 Christian attorneys nationwide who defend people in their local communities when their religious liberties are violated.
Spencer understands Martin’s argument that Phillips uses his artistic talents to make cakes that convey a message. Phillips is engaging in a form of speech when he makes a cake, and making a gay-marriage cake for these two men would therefore compel him to send a message that his religious conscience cannot allow.

Nonetheless, Spencer held that all this “fails to take into account the cost to society and the hurt caused to persons who are denied service simply because of who they are.”

Barack Obama – The Muslim-in-Chief

“The Lord shall bring thee, and thy king which thou shalt set over thee, unto a nation which neither thou nor thy fathers have known; and there shalt thou serve other gods. …”
– Deuteronomy 28:36
If you thought the U.N. International Baccalaureate and federal No Child Left Behind educational schemes were bad enough, you might want to look a little deeper.
In light of the 9/11 attacks, you would think the current administration would use a little prudence if it were sincerely concerned about a radical Muslim threat. When Obama took his oath of office, he instead defied America in numerous ways. He has given $1.5 billion to Muslim-led Egypt in foreign aid, shortly after the Muslim Brotherhood declared war on the United States. This is the same man that said America is “no longer a Christian nation,” followed by a reference that America may be described as a Muslim nation.
Muslim indoctrination in public schools
Interestingly enough, in recent years American public schools have been indoctrinated with the Muslim religion. Studies have shown over 500 historical errors in public school textbooks, giving an Islamic slant to our youth.
As a result, our youth are subject to the following teachings and practices:
  • Learning to become a Muslim
  • Fasting for Ramadan
  • Learning about Ramadan, which is a special month of the year for over 1 billion Muslims throughout the world. It is a time for inner reflection, devotion to Allah and self-control.
  • Learning the five pillars of Islam:
  1. Shahadah, profession of faith, is the first pillar of Islam. Muslims bear witness to the oneness of God by reciting the creed, “There is no God but God and Muhammad is the Messenger of God.”
  2. Salah, prayer, is the second pillar. The world’s Muslims turn individually and collectively to Mecca, Islam’s holiest city, to offer five daily prayers at dawn, noon, mid-afternoon, sunset and evening.
  3. Zakat, almsgiving, is the third pillar. Social responsibility is considered part of one’s service to God; the obligatory act of zakat enshrines this duty.
  4. Sawm, fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, is the fourth pillar of Islam.
  5. Hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, is the fifth pillar and the most significant manifestation of Islamic faith and unity in the world. For those Muslims who are physically and financially able to make the journey, the Hajj is a once in a lifetime duty that is the peak of their religious life.
  • Memorizing verses of the Quran
  • Adopting a Muslim name
  • Staging a jihad (war against non-Muslims). Jihad, according to Merriam Webster, is the central doctrine that calls on believers to combat the enemies of their religion.
How did this happen?

Could This New Congressional Resolution Lead to Impeachment of Obama?

At the first of December the House Judiciary Committee held hearings about whether or not Barack Obama has upheld his oath of office by following and enforcing the laws of the land. It seems clear from that hearing that Obama has indeed broken his oath. South Carolina Congressman Trey Gowdy (R) asked pertinent questions with regard to the issue at hand. Now, his colleague, South Carolina Representative Tom Rice (R), is set to file a resolution to direct Congress “to bring a civil action for declaratory or injunctive relief to challenge certain policies and actions taken by the executive branch.” This could inevitably lead to impeachment of Barack Obama
While the House hearing dealt with several laws that Obama ignored or re-wrote apart from Congress, the specific one in question was his signature piece of legislation, the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare. He has engaged in waivers and rewriting of the law at will, which is unconstitutional according to Article I, Section 1 and Article II, Section 3.
Article I, Section 1 states:
All legislative powers herein granted shall be vested in a Congress of the United States, which shall consist of a Senate and House of Representatives.
Article II, Section 3 states:
He shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union, and recommend to their consideration such measures as he shall judge necessary and expedient; he may, on extraordinary occasions, convene both Houses, or either of them, and in case of disagreement between them, with respect to the time of adjournment, he may adjourn them to such time as he shall think proper; he shall receive ambassadors and other public ministers; he shall take care that the laws be faithfully executed, and shall commission all the officers of the United States.
“President Obama has adopted a practice of picking and choosing which laws he wants to enforce. In most cases, his laws of choice conveniently coincide with his Administration’s political agenda.

Convert to Islam Attempts Suicide Bombing
at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport
Dec 14, 2013
On December 13, 2013, AlertsUSA issued the following
Flash message to subscriber mobile devices:
Federal officials say they've disrupted a suicide bomb plot at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. Awaiting details in upcoming press conference.

What You Need To Know
On Friday, AlertsUSA subscribers were notified via text messages to their mobile devices that federal law enforcement officials had disrupted a suicide bomb plot at Wichita Mid-Continent Airport. In a press conference held shortly after our alert was sent, it was revealed that the man accused of being behind the plotted mass casualty attack is 58-year-old Terry Loewen, an aviation technician at the airport and a convert to Islam.
According to Barry Grissom, the U.S. Attorney for Kansas and citing the criminal complaint, Loewen had previously made threats to engage in violent jihad against the U.S., spent months planning the attack with undercover law enforcement and was intent on using his employee access card to drive the vehicle loaded with explosives to a terminal where it was to be detonated. He intended to martyr himself in the process. Loewen was arrested Friday after attempting to use his then deactivated access card to carry out the deed.

U.S. Attorney Grissom also stated that Loewen became radicalized after reading extremist Islamic material on the Internet. In the coming weeks as additional information is released about this case it is likely we will find there was far more involved than simply the encouragement of web sites.
Loewen faces three federal charges including attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction which, if convicted on all charges, will have him staring at the inside of a prison cell for the remainder of his life.

Nuclear Power Station - ALLOW IMAGES
USGOV Ordering 700,000 Boxes of
Potassium Iodide for Nuclear Emergencies
Dec 14, 2013

What You Need To Know
The Department of Health and Human services has published a solicitation for the acquisition of 700,000 20-pill boxes of potassium iodide (KI) tablets, a key item that should be present in the preparedness stocks of every American home, and in particular, those homes anywhere near a nuclear power facility or research reactor.
As many readers know, one of the primary radioactive constituents released during a nuclear meltdown such as experienced at Fukushima, Chernobyl, and Three Mile Island, or the detonation of a nuclear device, is radioactive iodine (Iodine-131). Potassium iodide (KI) and potassium iodate (KIO3), which are relatively safe compounds, are used to saturate the thyroid with safe, stable iodine and thus prevent the uptake of radioactive iodine. Radioactive iodine poses a special health risk because of its cancer-causing effect on the thyroid gland. This is one the most common serious health ramifications of a major nuclear accident.
Following the initial meltdowns and explosions at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, government officials waited 5 DAYS to order the distribution of the pills. By then, most of the nearly 100,000 residents had evacuated the area. Potassium iodide is most effective when taken just before exposure, or within two hours after. It has little effect when administered days after exposure.
The result is that the number of reported cases of thyroid cancers in Japan are climbing fast. The chances are very good the numbers are even higher as the Japanese government is said to be actively preventing detailed reporting on the health ramifications of the incident (See this, this and this.).
Here in the U.S., a new study published just last month in the peer-reviewed Open Journal of Pediatrics shows that fallout from the Fukushima disaster has resulted in a significant excess of hypothyroidism in babies in California. An excellent review of the article and supplementary info is available here.
If one questions the veracity of such studies, also consider that the quantity of radioactive iodine released was so great that it was detected in sea kelp on the California coast as well as in Washington state cow milk.
Additionally, a steady stream of news reports reveal that sailors serving aboard the aircraft carrier Ronald Reagan, which rendered aid to coastal areas of Japan in the immediate aftermath of the tsunami, are known to be developing thyroid cancer and a myriad of other radiation-related ailments (See this, this and this.).
We again urge readers to consider the government's actions in light of your own preparedness efforts. A major chunk of the U.S. population lives within 50-100 miles of at least one of our Nation's aging nuclear reactors. In the event of an emergency, do you feel confident enough in your local government officials to distribute potassium iodide in a timely fashion, particularly if there is a need to evacuate?
Further, despite radioactive iodine being carried 5000 miles across the Pacific after the Fukushima incident, most emergency management plans in the U.S. call for distribution of potassium iodide pills only to those located within 20 miles of a nuclear plant. Do you think this is sufficient?

Russian Officials Issue Nuclear Threat
Dec 14, 2013

This week both Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as Deputy Prime Minister Dimitry Rogozin, each issued nuclear threats against the United States if Russia is ever attacked, even with conventional weapons.
Rogozin threatened the nuclear option while in a speech before Russian lawmakers about U.S. plans to deploy the Prompt Global Strike system, which is capable of hitting targets anywhere in the world with a conventional warhead in less than one hour. The system uses a Minuteman missile to loft a hypersonic glide delivery vehicle. Currently available stats (PDF) indicate the system would be capable of delivering a 1000 pound conventional warhead with amazing precision and force.
According to Rogozin:
“One can experiment as long as one wishes by deploying non-nuclear warheads on strategic missile carriers. But one should keep in mind that if there is an attack against us, we will certainly resort to using nuclear weapons in certain situations to defend our territory and state interests.”
Rogozin also reiterated that Russian military doctrine dictates nuclear weapons can be used against those who strike first with conventional arms.
“We have never diminished the importance of nuclear weapons, the weapon of requital, as the great balancer of chances.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin, in in his State of the Nation speech on Thursday, also issued a veiled threat, saying that conventional weapons systems designed to disarm a country's nuclear capability could have "extremely negative consequences" for global security and that Russia was closely following the development of so-called "disarming instantaneous global strike" programs, as they could harm the international balance of power.
According to Putin:
"The ramping up of high-precision strategic non-nuclear systems by foreign countries, in combination with the buildup of missile defense capabilities, could negate all previously reached agreements in the area of limiting and reducing strategic nuclear weapons, and could lead to the destruction of the so-called strategic balance of powers."
Readers are reminded that Russia has increasingly relied on nuclear weapons in its military doctrine in order to compensate for a post-Soviet decline in conventional forces. They have repeatedly threatened the use of nuclear weapons against the U.S. and NATO in the past 6 years (See this, this, this and this.).
The Russian military is returning to the Arctic. Calling it one of the government's top priorities, President Vladimir Putin has ordered the Russian defense ministry to complete the formation of new military units and infrastructure in the Arctic in 2014. Temp airfield located on Kotelny Island in the Novosiberian region has already been reactivated.
According to Putin, the islands “have key meaning for the control of the situation in the entire Arctic region.”

H7N9 Bird Flu Update
World health authorities are on alert as China continues to battle new H7N9 bird flu infections, as well as the detection of the virus in at least two poultry wet markets in Shenzen. As reported in last week's Threat Journal podcast, Hong Kong authorities have been dealing with several new confirmed cases of H7N9 as well as putting nearly two dozen people into quarantine in an attempt to minimize further spread of the virus.
Additionally, a new study appearing in the science journal Nature reveals that an H7N9 mutation has been found NOT to lose its ability to spread to mammals, despite developing resistance to drugs such as Tamiflu. It is commonly known in medical science that seasonal flu strains often become LESS transmissible once they develop resistance to such treatment drugs. However, the deadly H7N9 bird flu strain has been found to not follow this rule of thumb, with the drug-resistant virus no less efficient than the drug-sensitive one.
According to the researchers leading the study at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Department of Microbiology and Division of Infectious Diseases, the key takeaway with this discovery for doctors and clinicians should be to use discretion in their reliance on antivirals to treat H7N9 cases, as well as consider using drugs other than Tamiflu whenever possible.

From a California school teacher - - -

"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California
high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc.. where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. ( TAX DOLLARS WASTED )
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more have
cell phonesThe school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids.

Obama Has Failed Basic Duty To 'Faithfully Execute' Nation's Laws

Betsy McCaughey
Betsy McCaughey
Tell Santa to bring President Barack Obama a stocking stuffer: a copy of the U.S. Constitution with the words "Laws be faithfully executed" underlined in red. Those words define the president's most important duty.
But Obama, himself a constitutional lawyer, is ignoring the Constitution and governing like a dictator. His latest ploy exempts unions from a fee the Affordable Care Act (ACA)imposes.
Professor Jonathan Turley of George Washington University, who voted for Obama and professes to agree with him on health care and other issues, didn't mince words when he testified before the House Judiciary Committee on Dec. 3
He warned that Obama's power grabs are causing "the most serious constitutional crisis I've seen in my lifetime."
Several law professors and policy experts laid out a litany of the president's constitutional transgressions. He has delayed and rewritten key provisions of his health care law and weaseled a special insurance subsidy for members of Congress the law did not provide.
When Congress refused to enact his immigration and environmental policies, he imposed them by edict, granting amnesty to illegal immigrants brought to the U.S. as children and forcing regulations on coal plants that will likely bankrupt that industry.
Most recent is Obama's trick to spare unions from a fee that section 1341(b)(1)(A) of the ACA unambiguously imposes on all large group health plans. Faithfully executing the law means applying it even-handedly. Dictators do the opposite, playing favorites.
The union giveaway is buried on page 72,340 of the Federal Register for Dec. 2, a voluminous publication where government discloses its mind-numbing regulations.
The ACA sets up a reinsurance program to compensate insurers in the individual market, who are hit with high costs for covering people with pre-existing conditions.
The money is raised with a fee imposed on all group health plans, starting in 2014 and going through 2016, designed to raise $25 billion in all. Insurers and self-insured employers pay in proportion to the number of people they cover, so in 2014 the fee is $63 per covered person.
For three and a half years, the Obama administration crafted regulations to impose the fee on all large group plans.
But in the fall of 2013, unions pressed for an exemption. Then these words appeared on Dec. 2: "Our continued study of this issue leads us to believe that this provision may reasonably be interpreted in one of two ways — it may be interpreted to mean that self-insured, self administered plans must make reinsurance contributions, or it may be interpreted to mean that such plans are excluded from the obligation ... upon further consideration of the issue, we believe the statutory language can reasonably be read ..."
